5.72 Low Gear Ratio Transmission

The Zumbrota Drivetrain S5-47 manual transmission is a remanufactured unit built to exacting quality standards. It is engineered for 1996-1997 Ford F-series trucks equipped with the 7.5L engine and a 2WD drivetrain, specifically for applications where the Power Take-Off (PTO) is not utilized. This transmission undergoes a rigorous three-step inspection process. Initial inspection checks for case cracks, excessive wear, and OEM-specific issues. The second inspection ensures all component parts meet OEM specifications, while the third step verifies the unit is built to Zumbrota's strict standards. Critical components like shaft straightness, gear wear, and synchronizers are extensively tested to meet OEM specifications. Seals are replaced, and each unit is dyno-tested for operation, shiftability, and noise levels to ensure reliability and performance. The S5-47 features an integral bell housing, electronic speedometer compatibility, and a gear ratio of 5.72 in low and 0.76 in high. The tail housing is designed without a speedo hole.
