The Choate Engineering 5.9L Daily Driver Short Block is designed for reliable daily driving and consumer-level towing, building upon the legacy of the OE 5.9L Cummins. It features numerous upgrades over the Model C and OE specifications, including head studs, improved valve seats to prevent fallout, threaded gallery plugs to prevent oil/coolant mixture, and billet freeze plugs to prevent blowouts. The engine undergoes CNC blueprint machining for precise alignment and reduced friction, with the crankshaft line honed and the cylinder block bored and honed to an RA13 finish. The block-to-head sealing surface is surfaced to RA30 or lower. It comes fully balanced and includes a new rear main seal, bed seals, rear cover gasket, pickup tube O-ring, and rear cover.
