The TREMEC TR-4050 is a robust 5-speed manual transmission engineered for light and medium-duty trucks, particularly those in the 4WD market. It delivers a significant 6.16:1 first gear ratio, ideal for tackling challenging off-road terrain and low-speed crawling, complemented by a 0.76:1 overdrive gear for more comfortable and efficient highway travel. This versatile gear spread provides excellent control for both trailering and recreational off-roading. Constructed with a lightweight die-cast aluminum alloy housing, the TR-4050 offers considerable rigidity while saving weight. Its internal components feature advanced synchronizer technology and carbon friction material for smooth, precise shifting, including in reverse. The transmission is built to handle demanding applications, rated for up to 600 lb-ft of torque and a 15,000 lb GCVW. Tapered roller bearings on the input, main, and counter shafts, along with needle bearings under the gears, contribute to excellent internal stability, reduced noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), and improved efficiency. Designed for versatility, the TR-4050 includes a standard six-bolt PTO opening on the right side, allowing for the integration of hydraulic pumps for various accessories. It also offers multiple shifter locations and a multiple rail internal shifter for enhanced design and installation flexibility, providing an excellent shift feel and performance. The transmission is available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations, with specific versions noted for Ford Modular applications.
