5-Speed Manual Transmission

The Zumbrota RMTAX5J-9 is a remanufactured AX5 5-speed manual transmission specifically designed for 1997-2000 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 models with a 4-cylinder engine and external slave cylinder. Zumbrota Drivetrain rebuilds these transmissions adhering to stringent quality standards, employing a comprehensive three-step inspection process. This meticulous approach ensures the unit is free from case cracks and excessive wear, verifies all component parts meet OEM specifications, and confirms the final assembly is built to exacting standards. Critical components such as shaft straightness, gear wear, and synchronizers undergo extensive testing to meet OEM specifications. All seals are replaced, and each transmission is dyno-tested to confirm proper operation, shiftability, and noise levels before it leaves the facility. The construction features an aluminum case and does not include an integral bell housing. The transmission is not pre-filled with oil and has a fluid capacity of 3.5 quarts of SAE 30 transmission fluid.
