The K&N 57 Series FIPK is a performance air intake system designed to increase horsepower and torque by providing a higher volume of airflow to the engine. The kit features a black, rotationally-molded high-density polyethylene (HDPE) intake tube and a conical, washable, and reusable high-flow air filter constructed with oiled cotton media. A custom-fit heat shield is included to help isolate intake air from the elevated temperatures of the engine bay, optimizing density for improved performance. Installation of the 57 Series system is designed for completion in 60 minutes or less using basic hand tools. This kit replaces the restrictive factory air box and intake tube, though it is important to note that some versions of this intake are not legal for sale or use on pollution-controlled motor vehicles in California. This specific air intake is compatible with 2001-2004 Ford Explorer (V6-4.0L SOHC), 2001-2004 Explorer Sport, 2001-2004 Explorer Sport Trac, 2001-2004 Ford Ranger, and 2001-2004 Mazda B4000 models. The system includes mounting hardware and two couplers to ensure a precise fit during the installation process.
