The DS18 GEN-X6.5 is a 6-1/2" 3-way coaxial speaker system engineered to provide a comprehensive audio experience, covering the full spectrum of sound with clarity and high SPL. At its core, a 6-1/2" damped paper cone woofer works in conjunction with a stitched rubber surround to produce a natural and smooth midrange, ideal for realistic vocal reproduction. This cone construction minimizes unwanted resonances, ensuring a clean sound output even in demanding automotive environments. Complementing the woofer are two distinct tweeters. A 1-1/8" Mylar balanced dome tweeter is responsible for delivering accurate high frequencies with minimal distortion and wide dispersion. Additionally, a 3/8" piezo super-tweeter is included to further enhance the ultra-high frequency range, adding sparkle and detail to the overall sound. These speakers boast a sensitivity of 85 dB and an impedance of 4 ohms, making them efficient and versatile for integration with various head units and amplifiers. Constructed with a robust stamped steel basket and a 1" diameter voice coil, the GEN-X6.5 speakers are built to withstand the rigors of the automotive environment. They offer a power handling capability of 50 watts RMS, scaling up to a maximum of 150 watts, and cover a frequency response from 70 Hz to 20,000 Hz. The mounting depth is a practical 2-1/8", designed for easy installation in many factory locations. Grills, speaker wire, and mounting hardware are included to facilitate a straightforward setup.
