The Pioneer TS-Z65CH component speaker system aims to deliver a high-fidelity audio experience, drawing on Pioneer's nearly 80 years of audio expertise. The Z-series speakers are engineered for "Open and Smooth" sound, providing clarity and detail across a wide frequency range, from 30 Hz up to an impressive 96,000 Hz. The midrange/woofer utilizes a stamped steel frame with a 15.2-ounce ferrite motor and a dual-layer cone constructed from a blend of Twaron aramid fiber and cellulose. This combination results in a stiff, lightweight cone capable of moving significant air while maintaining high-frequency definition, complemented by a butyl rubber surround and meta-aramid spider for robust control. The accompanying 29mm tweeter features an aluminum alloy dome, uniquely shaped via HSDOM computer analysis to ensure pistonic movement and minimize distortion even at ultrasonic frequencies. Pioneer's Vertex Drive System enhances the mechanical coupling between the coil and diaphragm for improved power handling and reduced distortion. These components are managed by separate crossover networks, featuring a -12-dB tweeter filter with adjustable levels and a PTC thermistor for protection, and a -6-dB high-pass filter for the woofer. The crossover point is set at 2 kHz, with high-grade Mylar capacitors and iron core inductors. With a nominal power handling of 110 watts RMS and a peak power of 330 watts, these speakers are designed to be driven by a dedicated amplifier for optimal performance. The sensitivity is rated at 85 dB, indicating good efficiency. The mounting depth for the woofer is approximately 2.6 inches (65mm), and for the tweeter, it's around 15mm, making them suitable for a wide variety of vehicle applications.
