The JBL GTO609C component speaker system is engineered for impressive audio performance, handling 270 watts of peak power and 90 watts RMS. This robust power handling ensures reliability and allows for a wide range of amplifier matching, from head units to dedicated amplifiers, making them an ideal upgrade for any car audio system. The system includes two 6.5-inch woofers, two tweeters, and two external crossovers. At the heart of the GTO609C's superior sound is its patented Plus One woofer-cone technology. These carbon-injected cones are lighter and stiffer than traditional materials, providing a greater surface area for increased air displacement. This translates to enhanced low-frequency response, delivering the impactful bass often associated with larger speakers. The woofers are housed in fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) frames, which prevent warping and resist resonance, ensuring clear and accurate mid-bass reproduction. The GTO609C also boasts advanced tweeter design and construction. The edge-driven, soft-dome tweeter diaphragms increase power handling and reduce high-frequency distortion, while also offering better dispersion for improved imaging. With a frequency response extending beyond 20kHz, these tweeters deliver crisp, clear highs. The system includes a 12dB/octave passive crossover network to protect the tweeters and provide optimal sound blending between the woofer and tweeter. Installation flexibility is a key feature, with the included I-Mount tweeter-mounting system allowing for flush or surface mounting. The 3-ohm voice coils are designed to compensate for the resistance of thin factory speaker wiring, providing more output than similarly classed factory speakers. Vented magnet assemblies on the woofer/midrange drivers help keep the voice coil cool, further enhancing reliability and preventing power compression that can lead to sound distortion. The speakers achieve high sensitivity (92dB@2.83V/1m), meaning they can produce excellent volume with as little as 5 watts RMS.
