The Ford Performance TUKT16901 is a Tremec Magnum XL 6-speed transmission package, offering a significant upgrade for performance builds. This unit is specifically designed to replace factory transmissions like the TR-3650 and MT-82 in 2005-2014 Ford Mustangs, providing improved durability, shift precision, and high horsepower performance. Key design features include a direct-shift extended tail housing for enhanced shift feel and driver control, and a close-ratio gear set optimized for acceleration and highway performance. The double overdrive gearing (0.80 and 0.63 ratios) is beneficial for reducing cruising RPM. This transmission is robustly built, capable of handling up to 700 lb-ft of torque. The package includes the Tremec Magnum XL 6-speed transmission, an extended tail housing with a direct-shift location, an SFI-approved steel bellhousing, a vehicle-specific crossmember, and a transmission mount. However, installation requires a 26-spline clutch upgrade and a one-piece performance driveshaft, which are sold separately. Shifter handle and knob options are also sold separately, as are transmission fluid and installation hardware.
