600HP Dual Backdoor Intercooler

The SpeedFactory Racing 600HP Dual Backdoor Intercooler is a crucial modification for the 2015+ Ford EcoBoost Mustang, addressing the limitations of the stock intercooler which can allow charge air temperatures to exceed 200°F. Testing showed a significant drop from a peak of 153°F with the stock unit to 76°F with the SpeedFactory intercooler, a 77°F reduction. This cooler air leads to reduced knock, less need for ignition timing retardation, and ultimately, lower power output. Constructed with 3.4 times the mass of the stock intercooler and a 57% increase in internal volume (5.5L compared to stock's 3.5L), this intercooler offers greatly increased thermal capacity. It features 2.5" bead-rolled tube ends for secure connections and smooth-flowing CNC laser-cut H-3 5052 aluminum endtanks. Each unit is meticulously hand-formed and TIG welded in-house to ensure optimal performance and durability. The unit weighs 22.6 lbs, compared to the stock intercooler's 6.7 lbs. Installation is designed as a direct replacement, compatible with factory charge pipes, requiring no cutting or modification. This intercooler is suitable for street performance and track applications, providing cooler, denser intake air for noticeable improvements in power, efficiency, and throttle response. Gains of up to 32whp and 26wtq were observed simply by swapping the intercooler, with further increases expected when increasing power and boost levels. The Intercooler Volume Filling Model value should be updated to 6.480L for accurate calibration.
