Overview

The Circle D Specialties torque converter is a high-performance component designed for the 6L80E transmission. This HP Series converter features a 278mm billet front upgrade and is rated for 2600-2800 RPM.

Constructed with a hand TIG welded design, it includes a woven carbon lockup clutch lining, heavy-duty Torrington bearings, and an anti-balloon plate. A bearing retainer is also integrated. This torque converter offers excellent street manners while delivering strong performance when needed.

The Circle D 6L80E HP Series torque converter is engineered as a performance upgrade for 6L80E transmissions, offering a 278mm diameter and a stall speed range of 2600-2800 RPM. Construction highlights include a billet front cover for enhanced durability and support, hand TIG welding for robust joints, and a woven carbon lockup clutch lining for smooth engagement. It also features heavy-duty Torrington bearings, an anti-balloon plate to prevent distortion under high stress, and a bearing retainer for added reliability. An optional HD stator is also available. Installation requires attention to converter clearance, with a recommended measurement of 1/8" - 3/16" (or pull back). Shims (supplied SAE washers) may be used to achieve the correct clearance if it exceeds 3/16". Proper torque specifications for installation bolts are M10 x 1.5 (50 ft-lb) and 7/16" (58 ft-lb). This specific Circle D torque converter model **does not fit Corvettes or 2012-2015 Camaro ZL1 models**. It is noted that some installations may recommend a tune for optimal performance.
