Overview

The VRSF 7.5" Competition HD FMIC is an intercooler designed to replace the factory unit in select BMW models. It features a high-density bar and plate core with cast aluminum end tanks for improved flow and durability.

Show original supplier description

The VRSF 7.5" Performance HD Intercooler Upgrade Kit is engineered to significantly enhance the cooling performance of your BMW's N54 or N55 engine. By replacing the factory tube-and-fin intercooler, which is easily overwhelmed by increased boost levels, this kit prevents heat soak and reduces intake air temperatures. This leads to more consistent power delivery, a lower potential for pre-detonation, and overall improved engine reliability, especially when running tunes that increase boost. Constructed with a high-density bar and plate core and CFD-engineered cast aluminum end tanks, this intercooler is built for durability and optimal airflow. The staggered and offset fin pack is designed for maximum heat reduction with minimal pressure drop, supporting up to 1000 wheel horsepower. The kit comes complete with custom-molded couplers and stainless steel t-bolt clamps, along with a lower charge pipe and necessary mounting hardware for a comprehensive installation. It retains the factory fan shroud and fits both Left Hand Drive (LHD) and Right Hand Drive (RHD) models, including XI variants. Installation is designed to be straightforward, with an estimated time of less than 2.5 hours. Some minor trimming of the black plastic shroud behind the bumper may be required, but the bumper itself does not need modification.
