7.5" Stepped Race Intercooler

The VRSF 7.5" Stepped Race Intercooler is engineered to replace the factory intercooler in 2007-2012 BMW 135i, 335i, and 335is models equipped with N54 and N55 engines. This upgrade is crucial for vehicles running higher boost levels and increased airflow, as the OEM intercooler can become overwhelmed, leading to heat soak, power loss, and potential pre-detonation. The core of this intercooler utilizes an ultra high-density, custom bar and plate design with staggered and offset internal and external fins. This construction is optimized for maximum intake temperature reduction while minimizing pressure drop, making it suitable for upgraded turbo setups, including large twin or single turbos. It has been featured in record-breaking builds, supporting up to 1100 wheel horsepower. Construction includes CFD-backed, one-piece seamless cast aluminum end tanks, which are more durable and offer better flow than sheet metal alternatives. The intercooler is finished in a bright silver coating for corrosion resistance. It comes with a lifetime warranty. Installation is designed to be straightforward, typically taking less than 2.5 hours, and includes a lower charge pipe, custom molded couplers, and stainless steel t-bolt clamps. The factory fan shroud can be retained. However, the race intercooler requires trimming of the black plastic shroud behind the bumper, though the bumper itself does not require modification. This intercooler fits both Left Hand Drive (LHD) and Right Hand Drive (RHD) models, as well as all XI models.
