Overview

The KPower KP-E36-PAN is a 7-quart road race oil pan designed for K-Series engine swaps into BMW E36 and E46 models. It features internal baffles, two trap doors, two drain plugs, and an oil overflow plug. The oil pan is constructed from aluminum with .100" thick walls and a 3/8" rail, and all joints are welded inside and out with added ribs to prevent fatigue. This pan is designed to accommodate E36/E46/Z3 steering racks.

The KPower KP-E36-PAN is a custom-engineered 7-quart road race oil pan specifically designed to facilitate K-Series engine swaps into the 1990-2006 BMW 3 Series (E36/E46) chassis. This oil pan is crucial for achieving proper handling dynamics during these popular engine conversions. It incorporates essential features for oil control under high-performance driving conditions, including internal baffles, two trap doors to manage oil slosh, two drain plugs for convenient maintenance, and an oil overflow plug. The pan's design also includes a V2 oil pump housing with an O-ring bore seal and a countersunk pickup hanger with a screen to mitigate oil starvation, even with dented pans. KPower has implemented advanced manufacturing techniques to ensure longevity and reliability. Every joint on the pan is welded both inside and out, and ribs are pressed into the larger sheet metal sections. This construction method is critical for eliminating harmonic resonance that can lead to fatigue and cracking over time, a common issue with lesser designs. The pan is engineered to provide clearance for E36/E46/Z3 steering racks, though it requires machining away the power steering mounting tabs on the steering rack. Installation of this oil pan requires a K20 PRB oil pump conversion, which is sold separately.
