7-Speed Dual-Clutch Transmission

The Getrag 7DCT300 is a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) engineered for front-wheel drive vehicles with east-west engine mounting. It successfully integrates two multi-disc clutches with electro-hydraulic gearbox actuators, and its design is based on the 6-speed PowerShift 6DCT250. This advanced transmission operates on a three-shaft configuration and has seen a weight reduction from 72kg to 67kg, developed to meet increasing demands for fuel economy, driving dynamics, and environmental compatibility. Designed on a modular platform, the 7DCT300 is capable of handling engines with a torque capacity of up to 300 Nm. A key feature is its intelligent power transmission system, Smart Actuation, which lowers powertrain power consumption to 40 volts, enhancing overall efficiency. The electric actuators can function even with a non-running engine or when the vehicle is stationary. The electronic transmission control unit (TCU), mounted directly on the transmission case, interfaces with the system via a wiring harness connected to 5 electric motors, 2 speed sensors, oil temperature sensors, an engaged gear sensor, and two pressure sensors within the clutch actuators. The TCU software is tailored to the specifications of 23 automakers that utilize Getrag's dual-clutch transmissions. Typically equipped with an open-type differential, the transmission requires oil filling when installed in the vehicle with wheel drives mounted. However, a closed-type differential can be fitted upon manufacturer request. Getrag dual-clutch transmissions, including the 7DCT300, are currently found in vehicles from Ford, Renault, Honda-Acura, Ferrari, BMW-M, and Volvo.
