The MercedesSource 722.3 K1 Accumulator Upgrade Kit provides a solution for common shifting irregularities found in older 722.3 automatic transmissions. Specifically engineered for 1981-1990 models, this kit targets unwanted delay or "flaring" during the 2-3 gear change by modifying the internal K1 drum pressure. Note that this upgrade is not required for later transmission models, as they were revised by the factory to resolve this behavior. The kit features Genuine Mercedes-Benz accumulator components, ensuring factory-grade replacement quality. In addition to the primary accumulator parts, the package includes a quality aftermarket transmission filter and gasket, aviation-grade link-free cloths for valve body cleaning, and nitrile gloves to assist with the installation process. Installation requires draining the transmission fluid and removing the oil pan; however, no special tools are necessary, making this a suitable project for the DIY mechanic. The success of this upgrade depends on the health of the existing transmission internals; it is effective only if the transmission clutches are not worn and the K1 drum seals remain in good condition.
