The Motobilt Jeep YJ Back Half Kit is designed to replace the rear portion of the factory frame. This kit addresses limitations in the factory frame by moving the frame rails under the rear floor, keeping them higher and more consistent from the axle rearward. This creates space for proper coilover shock placement and rear suspension movement, while improving rear ground clearance by approximately 7 inches and enhancing the departure angle. The design incorporates a rear bumper with 3/4 inch thick D-ring mounts. The kit is 3D CAD designed in Solidworks, CNC laser cut from 3/16 inch thick flat steel plate, formed on a press brake, and then welded. It is not a factory replacement or repair section, but rather a system for custom builds requiring more clearance, better suspension packaging, and a stronger structure for off-road use.
