The Tilton Engineering 78-Series master cylinder represents the latest in racing technology, offering a lightweight and compact design that ensures consistent and repeatable braking performance. Its billet aluminum body is treated with proprietary low-friction coatings to minimize wear and enhance smooth operation. A key innovation is the rear spherical bearing mount combined with a one-piece piston/pushrod, which effectively eliminates side thrust into the master cylinder bore. This design ensures the piston travels straight, preventing binding, reducing seal wear, and providing a more consistent pedal feel. This hand-built and blueprinted master cylinder offers 1.1 inches of stroke and features an AN3 outlet port and an AN6 inlet port. It includes an external dust boot for contamination protection and an O-ring seal at the main rod guide and body interface for leak-free operation. The unit is a direct replacement for 77-Series master cylinders and is compatible with Tilton 800-Series and 900-Series pedal assemblies, as well as custom pedal designs. Important considerations for installation and use include the requirement for flexible lines for both inlet and outlet port plumbing. This master cylinder is not designed for use with ABS systems; for ABS compatibility, Tilton offers the 79-Series master cylinders.
