The Garrett 800HP Intercooler Core is a high-end, universal air-to-air intercooler core built with advanced aerospace technology, making it suitable for custom intercooler builds for both race and street cars. It's engineered to offer superior fatigue protection against the high boost pressures and temperatures found in extreme engines, leveraging Garrett's over 75 years of charge air cooler expertise. This intercooler core employs a bar and plate design, featuring exceptionally thin bars that contribute to a larger active cooling surface, reduced overall weight, and minimized pressure drop compared to many competitors. The advanced offset composition of its high-density cooling fins is proven to effectively lower intake air temperatures. Each core is precisely rated for a specific horsepower output, simplifying the process of selecting a core that matches your power goals. The core dimensions are 668 mm (length), 198 mm (height), and 109 mm (width), with a total weight of 8.56 kg. The goal is to ensure consistent charge air flow through the tanks and core for efficient cooling. While all intercoolers experience some pressure drop, a well-designed unit minimizes this effect. For optimal performance and longevity, it is recommended to 'soft-mount' the intercooler using rubber isolation grommets to protect against vibration failure and thermal expansion loads.
