The SunCoast 8HP70 Snake Charmer is a performance torque converter engineered for the 8HP70 automatic transmission, also known as the TorqueFlite 8. Originally a ZF design from Germany, this transmission is now produced in the US and features multiple generations with advancements in efficiency, including wider ratio spreads (7.8:1 in 2nd gen, 8.6:1 in 3rd gen) and improved fuel economy estimates of 3% and 2.5% respectively over earlier generations. This unit offers a healthy torque curve across all gears. The 8HP70 transmission can be found in a wide array of vehicles, including various BMW models (7 Series, X5, 5 Series, 3 Series), Dodge Durango V8, Jaguar F-Type, Jeep Grand Cherokee (5.7L, 6.4L, V8 & diesel), Ram 1500 (V6, V8, & diesel), Range Rover Sport, Maserati Quattroporte, Dodge Charger V8, Volkswagen Amarok V6 TDI 550, Dodge Challenger V8, and Aston Martins. The more powerful 8HP90 variant is featured in supercars like the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Bentley Continental GT. SunCoast has tested the 8HP90 platform torque converter in-house, achieving impressive drag racing times. This SunCoast torque converter is available in various stall speeds, with options including 2,000-2,200 RPM, 2,400-2,600 RPM, and 3,000-3,200 RPM.
