The Octopus Autopilot Pump Type 2 is a 12V hydraulic piston pump for marine autopilot systems on boats up to 65 feet L.O.A. It features an ORB Port Connection manifold and controls steering corrections by reversing the motor input current. Its simple design with three moving parts eliminates complex check valves. The output flow rate is adjustable to 50% of its rated flow for precise matching to the steering cylinder volume. Octopus claims it delivers over twice the hydraulic output per watt compared to competitor gear pumps. It uses a heavy-duty 85mm diameter motor with long brushes and sealed ball bearings for extended life. The molded rubber mounting foot rotates for versatile installation. It can be enhanced with direct-mounting valves and an adjacent solid-state FET switch.
