9000 Short Shifter

The Taliaferro Imports short shifter is a performance upgrade for the 9000 model, specifically for the 1993-1998 model years. It achieves this by replacing the factory's plastic and spring parts with a custom-designed spherical bearing. This robust bearing allows for greater angular movement of the shaft, preventing binding even at the extremes of travel. The throw reduction is substantial, decreasing from the factory 5 inches down to 3-3/8 inches. Key features include a short, precise throw and a solid-mounted bearing designed to withstand abuse, being 1/3 shorter than stock. The component is CNC machined to exact tolerances for optimal fit and function. A notable feature is the easily adjustable 5th/reverse gear guide plate, which allows for quick and painless fine-tuning of that specific gear engagement. For long-term durability and smooth operation, the shifter is equipped with a grease fitting that is accessible under the shift boot. While the core shifter housing is supplied as an exchange, you will reuse your existing knob, boot, and other components. Installation is generally straightforward, often requiring no under-hood adjustments. For the best possible shifting experience, it is recommended to pair this short shifter with a Poly transmission mount. The product also features a core exchange program to reduce the final cost; alternatively, an outright kit can be purchased with a refundable core charge to minimize vehicle downtime. Note that core return is mandatory for the credited amount, and returns are not accepted after one month. The original Key Locking in reverse is deleted.
