96-Plate Mesa Tru Cool Oil Cooler Kit with Electric Fan

The EMPI 9248 Mesa Tru Cool oil cooler kit provides a complete solution for adding a full-flow oil system with an external filter and cooler to air-cooled Volkswagen engines without requiring engine machining. This kit includes a 96-plate oil cooler, a 9-inch electric fan, a thermostat, a full-flow oil pump cover, and an oil return adapter with all necessary hardware. Also included are a remote oil filter bracket and high-temperature oil hose with all the fittings required for a proper installation. The oil cooler itself is constructed from aircraft-quality aluminum with oven-brazed construction, offering excellent strength and resistance to vibration. Its multi-passage design provides superior cooling compared to conventional tube-type oil coolers. The kit allows the engine to run in full-flow mode while leaving the original oil cooler in place. Installation requires the oil pump and case to be threaded and plugged to complete the full-flow system. The cooler measures 12 3/4" in length, 11" in width, and 1 5/8" in height, with 1/2" NPT inlet/outlet ports. Application is specified for All Type 1 VW Bugs, Super Beetles, and Karmann Ghias up through 1979, and all Type 2 VW Buses up through 1971.
