The Genuine Honda Unit, Abs, part number 39790-S30-A01, is a direct replacement ABS control module specifically designed for the 1997-2001 Honda Prelude models. This control module plays a critical role in managing the anti-lock braking system, working in conjunction with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). It analyzes signals from vehicle speed sensors and wheel sensors to regulate brake pressure to each wheel. The system also drives the pump motor and engages an internal self-testing mode to ensure the ABS functions correctly. Installation involves switching off the battery, accessing the module behind the passenger's right kick panel, disconnecting electrical connections, and removing mounting bolts. Reinstallation is the reverse of removal, followed by ignition cycling and a test drive to confirm the ABS light remains off. Proper diagnostics and code erasure may be necessary post-installation.
