Adapter Kit

The Novak Conversions GMAX15 adapter kit facilitates the integration of Chevrolet and GM standard shift bellhousings with Jeep AX15 transmissions. This allows for the retention of your existing GM bellhousing and often the clutch and release system, simplifying the conversion process. The adapter itself is precision CNC machined from high-strength alloy aluminum, ensuring durability and a secure fit. Its 1-inch thickness contributes to a total adapted length of 17.7 inches, with ample thread engagement and robust structural integrity. A new pilot bushing specific to your GM engine is necessary, and Novak offers various options for different GM crank and AX15 pilot tip configurations. The kit includes the main adapter plate and a bearing retainer that serves as a centering index for the GM bellhousing and clutch release bearing sleeve. Compatibility extends to TJ & LJ Wranglers and CJ7 and longer Jeeps where the AX15 transmission is being retrofitted. The adapter is suitable for nearly all GM Generation I-III engines, including Chevrolet Small Blocks, Gen III+ V8s, V6s, and I6 engines, as well as Buick, Olds, and Pontiac engines that utilize a standard shift classic GM bellhousing and flywheel. It interfaces with GM bellhousings featuring either a 4-11/16" or a 5-1/8" rear face bore; a spacer ring is available for the larger bore. Installation may require adjustments to clutch release systems, with Novak offering specific slave cylinder kits and adjustable throwout bearings. Certain clutch configurations, such as those associated with 153-tooth flywheels or 168-tooth flywheels requiring a 12" clutch assembly, are supported, but specific pilot bushings and clutch release bearings are critical for proper function.
