Overview

The GForce RCAE-W is an adjustable width crossmember designed for A-Body cars with frames wider than the standard 53-5/8" mounting hole center. It features removable end-tabs and includes four 3/16" thick shims to adjust the mounting width up to 54-3/8".

This crossmember is intended for 1964-1972 hardtop models and supports a variety of GM transmissions from TH350 to TREMEC TKO series. Installation involves bolting directly to the frame rails and may require enlarging factory holes to 1/2" for the provided 7/16" hardware.

The GForce RCAE-W is an adjustable width crossmember engineered for GM A-Body cars from 1964-1972 that feature frames wider than the standard 53-5/8" mounting hole center-to-center distance. This crossmember comes with removable end-tabs and includes four 3/16" thick shims, allowing for an adjustable mounting width of up to 54-3/8". For frames wider than this maximum, direct contact with G Force is recommended to discuss further options. The black powder-coated finish offers durability and a clean aesthetic. Compatibility is specified for 1964-1972 hardtop models across a wide range of A-Body vehicles including Chevelle, El Camino, Malibu, Monte Carlo, GS, Skylark, 442, Cutlass, F85, Grand Prix, GTO, LeMans, Tempest, Special, Sport Wagon, and Vista Cruiser. However, it will not fit convertible models or El Caminos with a boxed frame. Installation details note that the RCAE-W bolts directly to the frame rails using factory holes. It is advised not to use the rubber liner found on some original crossmembers. The provided 7/16" hardware may require enlarging the frame rail holes to 1/2". If using stock 3/8" hardware, Grade #8 fasteners are recommended. A polyurethane transmission mount is also recommended and sold separately. This crossmember clears 3" exhaust systems and accommodates parking brake cables.
