Air-to-Water Intercooler

The CTS Turbo Air-to-Water Intercooler is engineered as a premium upgrade for the BMW F80/F82/F83/F87 M3/M4/M2 models equipped with the S55 engine. It directly replaces the stock plastic intercooler, which is prone to cracking and offers an inefficient core design, making it unsuitable for higher boost levels. This upgrade aims to overcome those limitations. This intercooler features proprietary cast aluminum end tanks that have been optimized using CFD/CAD software and include flow-directing fins for streamlined airflow. The core itself is a high-density, dual-pass bar-and-plate design, providing superior cooling capabilities. Construction details include CNC machined fittings, stainless steel helicoils for secure mounting points, and all necessary installation hardware and silicon couplers are included. The unit is hand-welded in-house and pressure tested, then finished with a durable semi-gloss black powder coat. Upgrading to this intercooler offers significant benefits, primarily by lowering intake air temperatures (AITs). This reduction helps decrease the likelihood of engine detonation and timing pull, allowing the engine to perform more reliably and potentially at higher performance levels. The design aims for maximum efficiency and is backed by CTS Turbo's commitment to quality, with the manufacturer's logo cast into the core to distinguish it from imitations. Fitment is specific to the 2015-current BMW M3/M4/M4 Cabrio with the S55 engine, and the 2018-current BMW M2 Competition with the S55 engine. An installation guide is available for download.
