The Speedtek Auto Racing Aisin AZ6 6 Speed Close Ratio Dog Engagement Gearset is engineered to upgrade the performance and reliability of the factory Aisin AZ6 transmission found in Mazda MX-5 and RX-8 models. This comprehensive kit addresses common weaknesses in the stock gearbox, providing all necessary proprietary components. Included are gears, shafts, dog rings, hubs, a specific input shaft for the application, a main shaft, and specially designed custom bearings in key areas. The gearset is constructed from Billet 6061 Aluminium and is designed for rapid, quick shifts, offering a distinctly different driving experience compared to the stock synchronized transmission. The kit features a close-ratio gearset with the following ratios: 1st: 2.88, 2nd: 1.97, 3rd: 1.52, 4th: 1.25, 5th: 1.00, and 6th: 0.85. This differs from the stock MX-5 6-Speed ratios (1st: 3.70, 2nd: 2.19, 3rd: 1.54, 4th: 1.17, 5th: 1.00, 6th: 0.83) and includes a reverse ratio of 3.43. Designed for ultimate strength and performance, this gearset is rated to withstand up to 600 BHP (measured at power to the transmission). A race-spec lockout shifter, which prevents accidental engagement of first gear when shifting from second to third, is also part of the offering.
