Overview

The RTD BMW-Aluminum short shifter is a non-locking, chassis-mounted shifter designed for BMW E30, E36, E39, E46, E60, and E63 models. It features an integrated torsion spring for self-centering and feedback. The shifter's aluminum parts are milled from Alumec 89 alloy, and it uses bronze bushings for durability.

This non-locking shifter mounts directly to the chassis, eliminating rubber components for a more direct and connected feel. It features an integrated torsion spring that actively self-centers the lever, providing precise feedback and a more engaging gear change. For longevity and smooth operation, it utilizes bronze bushings instead of traditional Teflon ones. The base is fabricated from welded Stainless Steel 304 Grade for increased rigidity. The shifter is designed for BMWs with 5 and 6-speed Getrag and ZF manual transmissions, including standard H-pattern and dog box setups. It is compatible with RTD knobs and any threaded knob featuring an M12 x 1.25 mm thread pitch with a 35 mm thread depth. Options are available for surface finish (Black Anodized or Raw Aluminum) and height (Mini Lever for daily use or Race Lever for track applications), along with various gear knob colors. This shifter is specifically for manual transmission conversions and is not compatible with SMG transmissions without additional components like the E46 M3 DSSR.
