The Ford M-6049-L30 cylinder heads are a performance upgrade from the Ford SVO catalogue, designed to replace restrictive factory heads like the E7TE. Constructed from aluminum, these heads boast a 72 cc combustion chamber volume, 200 cc intake ports, and 80 cc exhaust ports, contributing to a 9.5:1 compression ratio when installed on a stock 5.0L engine. These cylinder heads are compatible with 1979-1993 Mustang GT, Cobra, LX, and SVO models, as well as 5.0L F150 trucks. However, it is crucial to note that they "will not fit 1986 5.0L with flat-" pistons and should not be installed on 289/302 production blocks without proper modification or consideration for BOSS blocks. Additionally, when upgrading to performance cylinder heads, it is imperative to replace the stock valve springs, as they may not adequately support even a stock HO cam, and to select a spring package compatible with your chosen camshaft and rocker arm combination.
