Its core volume is 69% larger than the OEM intercooler, offering a 3% improvement in airflow at a 0.15 bar pressure drop and lowering post-intercooler air temperature by 14°C (from 45°C to 31°C). This enhanced cooling capability ensures the engine can maintain optimal power output even during repeated full-throttle runs or in hot climates, preventing heat buildup that can decrease usable power. The ICM-290 is designed for a direct drop-in installation without requiring any modifications to the vehicle's original structure. It includes all necessary hardware such as bolts, washers, and mounting instructions. However, a note for some 6-cylinder XC60 models built on or before 2013 indicates that the lower cross-member (part number 30681520) may need to be replaced with Volvo part number 31429723 to accommodate the larger intercooler.
