AMC V8 DUI Distributor

The Performance Distributors DUI-40820BK is an all-in-one ignition system designed to replace the weaker, three-component stock ignition on AMC engines. This distributor simplifies installation with its single 12-volt hot wire hookup and boasts an internal 50,000-volt coil capable of firing spark plugs with gaps up to .055". The high-dwell Dyna-Module, housed within the distributor, extends spark duration for noticeable improvements in throttle response and low-end torque. Performance Distributors meticulously tunes the centrifugal advance system using a Sun distributor machine. This process ensures a precise timing curve tailored to provide maximum power across the RPM range while preventing engine-damaging detonation. The included, adjustment-free vacuum advance canister works in conjunction with the centrifugal advance to enhance drivability and potentially improve fuel mileage. Ballast resistors are not required, as the DUI system performs optimally with full alternator voltage. This Street/Strip version of the DUI distributor is designed for engines operating up to 7000 RPM, making it suitable for off-road vehicles, daily drivers, and drag cars. For more aggressive engines exceeding 7000 RPM, a racing version capable of up to 10,000 RPM is available. The DUI distributor is built by hand with quality components and attention to detail. Replacement parts are readily available using GM High Energy Ignition (H.E.I.) components. The Street/Strip DUI is covered by a one-year warranty, while the Racing version has a 30-day warranty. This distributor is not legal for sale or use on any pollution-controlled vehicle in California.
