This Genuine BMW Blue Antifreeze (G48 formula) is a concentrate designed to maintain optimal cooling system performance for your BMW or MINI vehicle. It provides essential protection against freezing, boil-over, and corrosion, while also ensuring proper water pump lubrication. The formula, which has been in use since the 1990s, is free of nitrites, amines, phosphates, and borates, aligning with BMW's specific recommendations. Mixing off-the-shelf coolants is not advised, and in urgent situations, distilled water is preferred over incompatible formulas. The product is supplied as a 1-gallon concentrate and must be mixed with distilled water, typically at a 1:1 ratio for street cars to achieve desired freeze protection, anti-freeze protection, and water pump lubrication. For enhanced cooling properties in extremely hot climates, drivers can adjust the ratio or consider adding Red Line Water Wetter. It is important to note that this blue coolant formula is approved for cars up to the 2018 model year. BMW replaced this formula for cars produced after January 2018 with a new silicate-inclusive formula. Therefore, this G48 blue coolant is not recommended by BMW for vehicles produced after January 2018.
