ARP Cam Gear Bolt

The Integrated Engineering ARP Cam Gear Bolt is engineered as a direct, robust replacement for the factory cam gear bolt in VW and Audi 1.8T 20V engines. The factory bolt is a common failure point, especially in high-horsepower applications, where its weak threads and low clamping force can lead to the cam gear spinning on the camshaft, resulting in catastrophic engine damage. This upgrade is manufactured from aerospace-grade alloy in the U.S.A. to tight tolerances, providing an extremely consistent clamping load. It features roll-formed threads after heat treating for superior strength and durability. The bolt is 100% reusable, unlike the one-time-use factory component. It increases clamping force on the cam pulley by 10% and is designed to prevent the under-spec issues that plague the stock timing system. Installation is straightforward and similar to the OE procedure. Ensure camshaft threads are clean before installation. Use a 5/8" 6-point socket and torque the bolt to 55 ft-lbs with red Loctite, being careful not to exceed this specification to maintain reusability and reliability. Uninstalling the bolt may require heat to break the Loctite bond, but do not exceed 400 degrees Fahrenheit when heating.
