ARP Crankshaft Damper Bolt

The Integrated Engineering ARP Crankshaft Damper Bolt Upgrade is engineered to prevent catastrophic engine failure caused by dropped timing belts in VW and Audi 1.8T 20V (06A) and 2.0T FSI engines. The factory timing interface is a known weak point, prone to failure, especially with higher RPMs in performance builds. This upgrade, co-designed with ARP, uses aerospace-grade materials for enhanced strength and consistency, increasing clamping loads by over 10% to ensure a reliable, slip-free connection and protect against keyway shearing. Installation requires a 13/16" 12-point socket and a torque wrench. The bolt should be torqued to 78 ft-lb plus an additional 1/4 turn, using red Loctite®. Be prepared for the significant torque required for the final 1/4 turn. Ensure crankshaft threads are clean and free of debris before installation. The bolt is reusable; if removal is necessary, heat the bolt interface to below 400 degrees Fahrenheit. This bolt is designed specifically for late 06A 1.8T engine blocks. It will NOT fit early 058 engine blocks, which can be identified by an external water pump and internal drive shaft. It is also intended for TIMING BELT ENGINES ONLY on applicable 2.0T FSI models.
