The patented ATI Super Damper is designed exclusively for high performance GM 4-cylinder Ecotec engines. It eliminates torsional crankshaft vibrations and exceeds SFI 18.1 specs. The damper has a black zinc chromate finish, is tunable, rebuildable, and extremely efficient at all RPMs, with laser-engraved timing marks. The inner and outer shells are made of lightweight 2024 aluminum (for this specific part number) and contain a steel inertia weight. This particular model (917288) is a 12% Underdrive (UD) from stock. While the stock setup typically uses a six-groove pulley system, the ATI Super Damper can accommodate 8-groove belts commonly found on aftermarket superchargers. Underdrive is recommended for turbo applications to avoid over-spinning the alternator and improve high RPM engine reliability. Note that due to the changed balancer size, a shorter belt is required for the underdrive pulley. This part is not for over 600 HP on the street and does not work on Kappa chassis vehicles due to power steering pump belt requirements (would require deleting power steering).
