The BMW Genuine Parts transmission filter kit is a crucial component for maintaining the health of your automatic transmission. This kit, specifically designed for A5S390R (5L40-E) transmissions, includes one filter, one pan gasket, and twenty pan bolts. Replacing the transmission filter during fluid service is essential for catching wear material and other debris that can cause shifting issues, such as delayed or harsh shifts, or even complete loss of gear engagement. A clogged filter can also lead to reduced fluid flow, potentially causing transmission pump starvation, which may manifest as an RPM-dependent whine. This filter kit is specifically recommended for use when performing a drain and fill on your vehicle's automatic transmission, and it is critical to replace it if major transmission components like the torque converter, pump, or valve body are being replaced. This Genuine BMW part ensures the same quality and fitment as the original part installed at the factory. It is Made in Germany and is designed for select BMW X5 models from 2001 to 2006 with the 3.0i engine (M54 Gas).
