Overview

The Edelbrock AVS2 carburetor is a 650 CFM, 4-barrel carburetor designed for optimum street performance in small-block and some big-block engines. It features annular flow primary boosters for improved fuel atomization and smoother transitions from idle to full throttle. This carburetor includes timed and full vacuum ports for ignition advance and comes with metering jets, metering rods, and a step-up spring.

The Edelbrock AVS2 Series 650 CFM carburetor represents the next generation of Edelbrock carburetors, engineered for optimal street performance. This AVS2 carburetor features annular flow primary boosters, which improve fuel atomization and eliminate flat spots during throttle transitions. Each booster has eight equally spaced orifices to enhance fuel metering from idle to the main circuit, making it suitable for dual- or single-plane intake manifolds. The carburetor comes equipped with electric choke, timed and full vacuum ports for ignition advance, and includes .101 primary jets, .098 secondary jets, .070 x .037 metering rods, and an orange (5" Hg) step-up spring. Installation notes indicate that Edelbrock carburetors are not calibrated for or compatible with alcohol, race, or E85 pump fuel, and using such fuels will damage the carburetor and void the warranty. A new fuel filter between the fuel pump and carburetor is required to maintain the manufacturer's warranty. For use with Ford automatic overdrive transmissions (AOD), a Lokar bracket SRK-4000 is necessary. Additionally, an Edelbrock Adapter #2732 may be required for installation on certain Edelbrock intake manifolds. Key specifications include a 650 cfm rating, 4-barrel design with a square flange type, 1.19-inch main venturi diameter, and primary bore of 1.44 inches with a secondary bore of 1.75 inches. It is constructed from aluminum and features a satin finish.
