The Texas Speed & Performance B.F.D. "Chop Monster" 5.3L Cam is engineered to deliver the most savage exhaust chop for naturally aspirated LS engines while providing substantial power increases across the RPM range. With a 228/232 duration, .629"/.600" lift, and a 108 LSA (105 ICL), this camshaft is designed to make your LS engine sound like a classic NASCAR powerplant. This cam is best suited for 5.3L, 5.7L, and 6.0L engines and requires a desired compression ratio of 9.5:1 or higher. For optimal performance and reliability, it is recommended to use TSP/PAC Dual Valve Springs. Additionally, an aftermarket stall converter of 3200+ RPM and upgraded rear gears of 3.23 or higher are required. The operating RPM range for this camshaft is between 2000 and 6500 RPM. While the B.F.D. "Chop Monster" cam can be daily driven with a proper tune, drivability may vary depending on the specific engine. 5.7L and 6.0L engines are expected to handle the cam better than 5.3L engines, which might experience slight surging in lower RPM ranges. This camshaft is compatible with Gen III LS 4.8L/5.3L, Gen III LS 5.7L/6.0L, Gen IV LS 4.8L/5.3L, and Gen IV LS 6.0L/6.2L applications.
