B16A Plate-Type LSD

The RSX Racing Solutions Honda B16A Plate-type LSD is an ultra-lightweight, 5.5 kg, plate-type limited-slip differential engineered for Honda Civic EG6/EK4 models with B16/B16A/B16A2 VTEC engines and Y21 gearboxes. It is designed for applications including the 1993–1997 Honda Civic del Sol DOHC VTEC B16, 1999–2000 Honda Civic Si DOHC VTEC B16, 1990–2000 Acura Integra GS/LS/RS, 1992–1993 Acura Integra GSR, JDM Integra Type R 96–97, JDM Civic Type R EK9, JDM Civic SiR EK4/EG6, JDM CR-X del Sol SiR EG2, USDM del Sol VTEC EG2, and UKDM Civic VTi EG6/EK4/EM1. Manufactured from forged nickel-chromoly steel, this LSD features Super Sub-Zero/Cryogenic treatment, shot peening, and WPC treatment to enhance core strength, surface durability, wear resistance, and fatigue life. Its design includes large windows and multiple oil holes for reduced friction, improved lubrication, lower weight, and enhanced thermal stability, providing exceptional durability and predictable performance. The unit boasts 16 friction plates, a unique configuration on the market, and offers stable preload characteristics even under endurance racing conditions. Technical specifications include dual ramp bodies with factory standard angles of 35/67.5 & 35/90, though other configurations are available upon request. Included with the LSD are high-tensile ring gear/crown wheel bolts (steel grade 12.9) and an additional thicker Belleville/conical washer for users seeking higher preload settings. Installation requires careful attention to manufacturer-specified torque for crown bolts and strongly recommends the use of high-strength threadlocker such as Loctite 271 (red) or Loctite 270/2701 (green) for maximum security. For optimal performance and longevity, the use of LS (Limited Slip) gear oils, typically SAE 75W-140 LS, is strongly recommended. It's important to note that the anti-corrosion oil applied during factory assembly does not provide lubrication, and the LSD should be pre-lubricated with gear oil during gearbox assembly.
