The Bilstein B8 Sport Front Strut Insert (part number 34-030196KT) is engineered for sport-tuned performance, specifically designed to complement lowering springs. It utilizes a monotube gas pressure construction for enhanced performance and control. This strut insert is designed for specific fitment, requiring a 2.5-inch dust cap and an M14 top nut with a 22mm hex nut. It is crucial to verify your vehicle's existing shock stem and dust cap size before ordering, as some models may have had different shocks fitted during previous replacements. This part replaces BMW part number 31321092284. Key compatibility details include fitment for E34 5 Series models from 1989-1995, including the 525i (M20 and M50 engines), 530i, 535i, 540i, and M5 (1991-1995). However, this strut insert is NOT compatible with cars equipped with EDC or other electronic dampers. Bilstein B8 Performance Plus shocks are shorter than standard HD shocks to match lowered ride heights, and their inverted design helps reduce unsprung weight. They are valved stiffer than original equipment to better control spring and body motions, featuring Digressive Valving for a firm, controlled ride during slow movements and a softer response over bumps.
