The Texas Speed "Bald Eagle" SC camshaft, part number TSP-CATHBaldEagle-SC, is a custom-ground hydraulic roller camshaft developed for supercharged LS1/LS2 engines with cathedral port heads. It is the same camshaft Cleetus McFarland runs in his C5 Corvette "Leroy." This camshaft is designed for supercharged applications but can also be ordered for naturally aspirated setups, offering a more aggressive idle chop. Key specifications include a camshaft duration at 0.050" of 227 intake and 234 exhaust, with a valve lift of .600" for both intake and exhaust. The lobe separation is 114 degrees, and the intake centerline is 111 degrees, with a 3-bolt camshaft gear attachment. This cam is best suited for 5.7L and 6.0L engines and performs optimally with a desired compression ratio of 10.1:1 or higher. The operating RPM range is from 2000 to 6600 RPM. Installation of the "Bald Eagle" camshaft requires specific supporting modifications. Valve springs such as PAC 1219 or TSP Dual .660 valvesprings are mandatory. For vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions, an aftermarket torque converter with a minimum 2,800 RPM stall speed is required. While not mandatory, a minimum of a 3.23 rear gear ratio is recommended for maximum performance. The camshaft is estimated to provide an increase of 50+ horsepower. Despite its performance-oriented specifications, this camshaft is described as a great daily driver cam once properly tuned, offering good drivability. It's also noted that the product is not legal for sale or use in the state of California.
