The BBS FI-R wheel starts with a continuous reinvention of classic wheel design, utilizing numerous sketches, drafts, and computer graphics from BBS's in-house design studio. Each wheel undergoes meticulous prototyping, with individual 3D designs created from sketches and drafts, ensuring every BBS wheel is unique and finished by hand. The manufacturing process involves transforming aluminum heated to over 1,000 degrees Celsius into a stunning light alloy wheel through a low-pressure casting process, followed by X-ray inspection for quality control. Depending on its design, the wheel is subjected to thermal treatment and a flow forming process, where the rim well is rolled out under high pressure to compact the material, significantly improving mechanical characteristics. Precision machining with specialized CNC machines processes each wheel to its final dimensions, followed by deburring and thorough quality checks. The wheels receive a lacquer finish in Herbolzheim, satisfying stringent technical requirements for a perfect shine, beautiful surface, and long-lasting quality. Finally, the processing center offers customization options like burnishing, pad printing, lasering, and ceramic polishing, resulting in high-quality wheels with a unique shine and extensive customization.
