The BBS LM wheel is a result of continuous design innovation at BBS's in-house studio in Schiltach. Each wheel undergoes a meticulous prototyping process, where individual 3D designs are crafted and then hand-finished. The manufacturing involves a low-pressure casting process where aluminum heated to over 1,000 degrees Celsius is poured into molds and cooled. All rims undergo X-ray inspection for quality control. Depending on the design, the wheels are subjected to thermal treatment and flow forming to compact the material and achieve optimal strength. Precision machining with specialized CNC machines brings each wheel to its final dimensions, followed by deburring and inspection. A multi-stage lacquer finish in Herbolzheim ensures a perfect shine and long-lasting quality. Further customization options like burnishing, pad printing, lasering, and ceramic polishing are available at the processing center.
