The BBS LM wheel, part of a continuously reinvented classic design, originates from BBS’ in-house design studio in Schiltach. The process involves numerous sketches, drafts, and computer graphics, leading to the creation of individual prototypes and 3D designs. Each wheel is finished by hand, from prototyping and development to mechanical processing. The foundry transforms aluminum, heated to over 1,000 degrees Celsius, into a light alloy wheel using a low-pressure casting process where liquid metal is poured into a mold. The wheel blank is then cooled in a water bath, emerging at 400 degrees Celsius after approximately seven minutes.
