Craftsmanship is central to every BBS wheel, from initial sketches and 3D prototypes to mechanical processing and hand-finishing. The manufacturing process involves heating aluminum to over 1,000 degrees Celsius, low-pressure casting, and cooling. Each rim undergoes X-ray inspection. Depending on the design, wheels are subjected to thermal treatment (over 500 degrees Celsius for 6 hours) and the flow forming process, where the rim well is rolled out under high pressure, compacting the material for improved mechanical characteristics. Highly specialized CNC machines process each wheel, followed by deburring and quality checks by skilled employees. The paint shop in Herbolzheim applies the base coat and desired color, with drying, painting, and special surface finish treatments done using state-of-the-art technologies. Customization options like burnishing, pad printing, lasering, and ceramic polishing are available. BBS continuously improves material, surface design, and quality.
