The BBS XR wheel is designed through a process involving numerous sketches, drafts, and computer graphics in BBS's in-house design studio. After technical feasibility checks, 3D prototypes are created. The wheels are manufactured using a low-pressure casting process where aluminum heated to over 1,000 degrees Celsius is poured into a mold. Each wheel undergoes an X-ray inspection for quality control. Depending on the design, the wheel is subjected to thermal treatment and flow forming, where the rim well is rolled out under high pressure to compact the material and improve mechanical characteristics. Highly specialized CNC machines process each wheel to its final dimensions, followed by deburring and checking for unevenness. Finally, a lacquer finish is applied in a state-of-the-art paint shop for a perfect shine, beautiful surface, and long-lasting quality. Customization options like burnishing, pad printing, lasering, and ceramic polishing are available at the processing center.
