The BD Diesel Cool Down Timer is an electronic device designed to prevent turbocharger damage caused by immediate engine shutdown after operation. Turbochargers operate at high temperatures, and abrupt shutdowns can halt the flow of lubricating oil while the turbo is still hot. This can lead to oil overheating, coking of bearings, and premature wear. The Cool Down Timer keeps the engine idling for an adjustable period (up to 5 minutes) or based on exhaust gas temperature (EGT) using a K-Type EGT probe, allowing the turbocharger to cool down properly before shutdown. It is compatible with most OEM vehicle security alarms.
