The BD Diesel Positive Air Shut-Off (PAS) system is designed as an emergency shutdown device for diesel engines to prevent engine runaway. Engine runaway, though rare, can occur when external hydrocarbons are drawn into the engine, leading to overspeeding and potential catastrophic damage to the engine, vehicle, and putting lives at risk. The PAS system works by deploying a butterfly valve within the air intake system, which cuts off the air supply and safely shuts down the engine within seconds. The design emphasizes simplicity with fewer parts and a reduced overall size compared to competing units. It features aluminum and stainless components and weatherproof electrical connectors for corrosion resistance. Installation is made easy with bead boot locks, eliminating the need for welding. CAC pipes are included for some vehicle applications.
