The Uniden Bearcat BC-355N is a versatile analog base/mobile receiver and scanner, ideal for monitoring a wide spectrum of radio communications. It operates across HF, VHF, UHF, and 800 MHz bands, with a frequency range of 25-54, 108-174, 406-512, and 806-956 MHz (cellular frequencies are blocked in the US). This scanner boasts 300 channels for custom programming and offers numerous pre-programmed channels categorized for public service, CB radio, Police, Fire/EMS, Air traffic, Marine, and Private communications, alongside 13 dedicated search bands. Key features of the BC-355N include its Close Call RF capture technology, which helps identify nearby transmissions, and a backlit display for easy readability in low-light conditions. It supports AM, FM, and NFM modes and offers various tuning steps depending on the band, such as 5, 7.5, 6.25, 8.33, and 12.5 KHz. The device is powered by a 13.8 VDC supply and features a standard BNC antenna connector. Its compact dimensions of 5.19" x 1.62" x 5.75" make it suitable for both mobile and base installations. This scanner is important to note is NOT a digital scanner and cannot monitor digital radio systems like Project 25, DMR, or NXDN. The package includes AC and DC power adapters, and an external speaker can be connected via a 3.5 mm jack.
